China's latest engineering marvel-Video
World’s tallest horizontal skyscraper’ will feature two swimming pools, restaurants and a light show 820ft in the air A Chinese city is about to complete the country's new landmark after six years of construction. The project was designed by architect Moshe Safdie. It was inspired by Chinese sailing vessels and is a tribute to Chongqing historical past as a maritime trading centre. An enormous commercial complex comprising eight skyscrapers, the £2.7 billion mega-structure in Chongqing, south-west China, has a huge rooftop corridor laid across the tops of four 60-storey buildings at 820 feet. Stretching 984 feet in length as if a horizontal skyscraper, the spectacular glass-walled structure is nearly as long as The Shard in London laid on its side and three times the height of the Statue of Liberty in New York. The property, called Raffles City Chongqing, is invested by Singaporean real estate company CapitaLand which owns a chain of shopping malls and office buildings across China.

Bad joint track train rail-Video

Trains actually don't make that sound. The rails make it. A rail is not a single metal piece but a series of rail pieces with certain length. ... The sound is generated because of the lateral movement of the wheels and subsequent connection/friction with the tracks. Train noise is vehicle noise created by trains. Noises may be heard inside the train and outside. Various parts of a train produce noise, and different kinds of train wheels produce different amounts of noise. Noise barriers can attenuate the noise. Subways, Light Rail transit and freight trains can send loud train noise into neighborhoods. Organizations such as the World Health Organization and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have set guidelines for noise level decibel limits for Rapid Transit Train noise can be a type of environmental noise. When a train is moving, there are several distinct sounds such as the locomotive engine noise and the wheels turning on the railroad track. The air displacement of a train or subway car in a tunnel can create different whooshing sounds. Trains also employ horns, whistles, bells, and other noisemaking devices for both communication and warning. Trains propelled by electric traction motors often produce electromagnetically-excited noise. This high pitch noise depends on the speed and torque level of the machine, as well as on the motor type. Variable frequency drives use Pulse-width modulation technique which introduces additional current harmonics, resulting in higher acoustic noise. The switching frequency of the PWM can be asynchronous (independent of the speed), synchronous (proportional to the speed), but always results in acoustic noise varying with speed. Flange Squeal is the sound of the flanges of the metal train wheelset turning on the train track.

all HSR trains, track and service are owned and operated by the China Railway Corporation under the brand China Railway High-speed (CRH). The China Railway High-speed (CRH) high-speed train service was introduced in April 2007 featuring high-speed train sets called Hexie Hao (simplified Chinese: 和谐号; traditional Chinese: 和諧號; pinyin: Héxié Hào; literally: "Harmony") and Fuxing Hao (simplified Chinese: 复兴号; traditional Chinese: 復興號; pinyin: Fùxīng Hào; literally: "Rejuvenation") running at speed from 250 km/h to 350 km/h on upgraded/dedicated high-speed track. The Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Rail, which opened in August 2008 and could carry high-speed trains at 350 km/h (217 mph), was the first passenger dedicated HSR line.
High-speed rail (HSR) in China is the country's network of passenger-dedicated railways designed for speeds of 250–350 km/h (155–217 mph). It is the world's longest high speed railway network and is also the most extensively used.
By the end of 2018, HSR extended to 30 of the country's 33 provincial-level administrative divisions and reached 29,000 km (18,000 mi) in total length, accounting for about two-thirds of the world's high-speed rail tracks in commercial service. The HSR building boom continues with the HSR network set to reach 38,000 km (24,000 mi) in 2025.
